A New University-wide Course

One of the goals of the Polish-Turkish Studies Centre is to promote knowledge about contemporary Türkiye among the academic community of the University of Gdańsk. Starting next Monday, together with Marcin Hoffman from the Faculty of Economics, we will also pursue this goal through teaching.

A new university-wide course, “Türkiye – More Than a Holiday Destination: Society, Politics and Business” is launching at the University of Gdańsk, offering students a multidimensional look at contemporary Türkiye. More than 60 students from almost all fields of study have enrolled in the course.

Throughout the semester, students will explore Türkiye from a variety of perspectives; from society, family life, regional diversity, music and cuisine, through the economy, e-commerce, air transport, green transformation and tourism, to Türkiye’s relations with Europe, its soft power and its role in some of the most important contemporary conflicts.

We want to present Türkiye as a country far more complex than a popular holiday destination; a country with a fascinating society and culture, a dynamic economy and a growing international role.
