Republic Day of Türkiye Celebrated at the University of Gdańsk

On 31 October, the University of Gdańsk hosted the celebration of the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye. Organised by the TURKUS Association and hosted by the Polish-Turkish Studies Centre, the event brought together a larger audience than ever before and marked the fifth time the celebration has taken place in Gdańsk.

This year’s celebration was attended by many Polish friends and representatives of public institutions, making it a valuable occasion to share Turkish culture and strengthen Polish-Turkish friendship.

The event was honoured by the presence of His Excellency Rauf Alp Denktaş, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Poland, together with Consul Sinem Turgut Bingöl and the attachés of the Embassy team. Emil Rojek, Deputy Voivode of Pomerania, and Agnieszka Zabłocka, Director of the Office of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, also joined the celebration.

On behalf of TURKUS and the Polish-Turkish Studies Centre, we extend our sincere thanks to all guests for celebrating with us, and to the Rector of the University of Gdańsk, Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, for his hospitality and for making it possible to hold the event at the University.

Our thanks also go to the hosts, performers and children who took the stage, as well as the members of TURKUS and the volunteers whose dedication made the event possible.

The Polish-Turkish Studies Centre was proud to host this celebration as part of the University’s international and intercultural activities, and looks forward to many more shared events in the future.
